Websites with royalty free stock photos for creators, designers and artists. Stunning photographs make your website look polished and can attract more visitors to your site. Additionally, if you’re promoting your posts on Instagram or Pinterest, where photographs are the essence of posts, your photos need to look really good.

However, searching for the right image can be a frustrating process. An important thing to consider when you download images is that you should make sure that you don’t download images that are subject to Copyright restrictions. Fortunately, there are several websites that offer a large selection of breathtaking photography and free high resolution images that are not subject to Copyright restrictions.

Unsplash is one of my favorite sites. It’s an awesome site for free high resolution photographs. It has over 1.5 million stock photos, which are covered by the Unsplash license.

The Unsplash license allows you to use images downloaded for commercial and personal use, and make modifications. Attribution is not necessary, but nice. However, any identifiable people or brands may still be subject to copyrights, privacy rights, trademarks, etc. You are also prevented from selling unaltered copies of the photographs or use the photos to create a competing site. Unsplash also has an iOS App for the iPhone and iPad.

2. Pixabay

Pixabay

Pixabay is another of my favorite sites for stock photos. It offers free stock photos, illustrations, vector images, videos and music. It has over a billion users and over 1.9 million royalty free stock photos, which can be downloaded for free without registration. Photographs on this site are covered by the Pixabay License.

Pixabay allows you to use the images for commercial and personal use, and make modifications. You are not bound to attribute them to the site or contributor but any identifiable people or brands may still be subject to copyrights, privacy rights, trademarks, etc. By the license terms, you are also prevented from selling unaltered copies of the photographs.

Pixabay has iPhone and Android Apps.

3. Pexels

Pexels

Pexels has hundreds of thousands of high quality, free photographs from their community of photographers. The images in Pexels are covered by the Pexels license, which allows free use and modification of photographs. There is no attribution required but you are prevented from selling the photographs without alteration.

Pexels is available for the iPhone and Android, as a Chrome extension as well as WordPress and Photoshop plugins and also as MS Office add-in.

4. Picspree

Picspree

Picspree is a website where you can get beautiful royalty free images, stock photos, illustrations and vectors. They are free for both commercial and personal use. No credit or attribution to either Picspree or the photographer is required, but is definitely appreciated. However, Picspree from selling unaltered copies of the images.

Picspree also has premium content on its website, that directs you to its preferred partner, Getty Images.

5. Stocksnap.io

Stocksnap

Stocksnap.io is another website that has beautiful stock photos that are of high quality and resolution. These photographs are free from copyright restrictions and can be used for both personal and commercial purposes. You can also see how many people viewed, marked as favorite and downloaded the images. The images in Stocksnap are governed by the Creative Commons license.
